Attitudes towards authority
These may have an impact on student expectations regarding the role of the teacher or trainer. Some may consider him or her a sort of guru who knows all and who should not be contradicted. Others may regard him or her as a peer who is more knowledgeable or advanced in a particular field with whom one can engage in debate.
In a virtual environment, the role of trainer is taken by the online moderator or facilitator. In this case, students may have different ideas about the degree of guidance through the course or to resolving technical problems.
